A digital user interface for Neumann.
How we brought the traditional Neumann brand to a digital user interface for Neumann MT48.
Notation Service: Interaction Design
Client: Merging Technologies & Georg Neumann GmbH
Year: 2022 - 2023
In a Nutshell
The MT 48 is Neumann’s first digital product—an audio interface built on the Merging Anubis platform.
Challenge
Our task was to redesign the UI of the interface and to establishing a digital design system consistent with the Neumann brand.
Solution
In close collaboration with the developers of Merging Technologies, we redesigned the graphical user interface of Neumann MT48. Our structured approach—from interface audit to development support—ensured alignment across teams, reduced ambiguity, and accelerated rollout.
The result is a digital user interface that extends Neumann’s reputation for precision and clarity into the digital realm.
Process Insights
System Assessment & UX Audit
Our first activity was a structured UX audit of the existing Anubis interface, identifying usability gaps and inconsistencies. These findings informed a prioritized backlog, enabling coordinated execution between design and engineering.
Design System Definition
With no digital UI guidelines in place, we established a modular design system grounded in Neumann brand heritage. Neumann’s delightful historical product shaped the design direction. We defined interface principles, codified reusable components, and aligned patterns across screens.
Development Support
We applied the system to the entire MT 48 interface and delivered detailed documentation. Our team supported the development process through targeted feedback and problem-solving—ensuring fidelity from design intent to execution.
